AYM Shafa CEO

Yakubu A. Maishanu, OON

Yakubu. A. Maishanu (OON) is the Executive Chairman/CEO of A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited. An astute businessman with a knack for entrepreneurship.

He envisioned A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited and nurtured the company to its admirable standing in the Nigerian economy. Under his leadership, A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited has grown significantly and diversified into major sectors of the economy, including financial services, transportation, real estate, importation, travel, automobile sales and repairs.

Yakubu. A. Maishanu is a risk taker and resolute individual who is keen on embedding the A.Y.M. Shafa brand on the global consciousness through innovative and best-in-class practices. Some of his defining steps have positioned the brand as a reputable and credible organization, and earned several commendations from home and abroad.

Happily married with kids, Yakubu. A. Maishanu ranks amongst the prime movers of the Nigerian economy and is among the respected private sector leaders in the country.

Ali Abiodun Ibrahim

Ali Abiodun Ibrahim is the Managing Director/COO of A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited. He joined the Management Board of AYM Shafa in 2023 to support the financial stability, integrity, and profitability of the company with over 15 years of experience in the various value chain of finance and accounting in the Oil & Gas Industry.

A former CFO at Petrogas Energy and Served as an Alternate Director at Ingentia Energies.

He is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of East London – UK, a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University Lagos and a Management Acceleration Certificate from the Lagos Business School.

Ali Abiodun began his career at Eterna Plc an oil & Gas company in 2009 as the Accountant inventory & cost control and he rose through the rank to become the Head of Finance in 10years.

His exceptional analytical skills, innovations, problem solving, creative, interaction and leadership skills set him apart, earning him promotions to senior roles within the group as he was also Head Treasury where he reduced the importation cost by 7%, he also led the team to a recovery of over 100m bad debt, and met all deadlines for NSE, SEC & other regulatory bodies.

As a former Head of Finance, he was able to increase investment income by 50% in 2017. Reduction of Finance cost by 35%, introduced controlled budget system into the ERP amongst other achievements.

He was also the former GM Finance AYM Shafa where he was able to renegotiate all trade finance facilities, stop leakages in the POS system by setting up policy & process control for transactions, arrange bank facility for DSDP financing and crude export finance facilities, Pioneer IFRS – compliant financial statements for 2 subsidiaries and close out all outstanding FX position within 3 months.

Alhaji Abdu Misau Abba

Alhaji Abdu Misau Abba joined the Board of A.Y.M Shafa Holdings Limited as a Non- Executive Director on 23rd March 2020. He holds B.Sc. Applied Chemistry from University of Jos, 1985, a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering from University of Ibadan,1999, and Certificate in Reservoir Engineering from Technology Research Center of Japan National Oil Corporation,1991.  

Alhaji Abba  started his career as a lecturer at College of Education, Azare and doubled as Coordinator of Science Education of the same Institute, in Bauchi state in 1986/1987. He Joined the services of NNPC Inspectorate now Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in 1987 as Chemical Engineer II, deployed to Conservation Division, Lagos. He grew progressively in the same Division serving in different Sections, to a level of Chief Chemical Engineer and was appointed Technical Assistant to then Director of Petroleum Resources (DPR), on June 23, 2008, he served five different DPR Directors in that capacity from 23rd June 2008 – 31st December 20016.  January 1, 2017, he was appointed as the Zonal Operations Controller, Abuja, in charge of Five States ( Benue, Plateau, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa) plus FCT, Abuja, he retired on 21st February 2019 as Deputy Director after serving for 32 years in Oil and Gas Industry.

He served the Nation under different Ministerial and Departmental Committees, to formulate National Policy on different aspects of Petroleum Industry amongst which are; Oil Industry Committee on Standardization of  Reserves Definitions,  Classifications and Reporting Format, Ministerial Committee on Re-positioning of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun, Warri, DPR Anti- Corruption Committee which he served as a Secretary to the Committee until appointed Zonal Operations Controller, Abuja, Committee on Auditing and Award of Reserves Addition Bonus (RAB), National Committee on Evacuation of Seized Crude/Sludges, DPR Initiative on guidelines of National Reserves Growth Committee and Committee on Proposed guidelines on Extended Well Test in Oil and Gas Industry etc. Alhaji Abba is a member of Nigerian Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)

Alhaji Abba attended several short courses, workshops, Seminars, Conferences for both professional and Managerial skills. He served as DPR representative on different Field Developments and Reservoir Engineering Integrated Projects, in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Holland and many other European and Latin American Countries.

He is married with Children and GrandChildren.

Mustapha Falalu Jahun

Mustapha Falalu Jahun’s journey through education and career embodies a commitment to excellence and continuous growth. His educational pursuits reflect a deep interest in the oil and gas industry, starting with an Oil & Gas Mini (MBA) from the School for Energy Studies, London, in 2005. Further enhancing his skills, he completed a High-Performance Teams program at the Oxford Management Center, USA, the same year. Additionally, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in 1991, with a focus on refining petroleum products, His educational journey culminated in studies at the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford London, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

His work experience journey began in 1981 as a Planning Officer and Sales Representative for both the Kano State Government and AGIP Nigeria Ltd. He transitioned to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in 1987, where he rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Director. In 2015, He retired as a Zonal Operational Controller in Kaduna.

Engr. Teryima Denen Toryila

Engr. Teryima Denen Toryila is currently an Executive Director Gas, Power and Renewable Energy, a business leader with about 20 years’ experience spanning Engineering Project Management, Operations, Sales and Business Development in the Power, Downstream Oil and Gas, Building Services and Telecommunication industries. He previously worked with multinationals such as Aggreko, a world leader in power solutions, as the General Manager for Nigeria; Puma Energy as the Country Manager for Nigeria and Oando Plc.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi Nigeria and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos Nigeria.

He is a registered engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a certified project manager (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, USA.

Mallam Musa Yahaya

Mallam Musa Yahaya is the Executive Director Business Development of the A.Y.M Shafa holdings Limited. He has vast experience in shipping oil and gas downstream management, projects management, and corporate communications. Before he was appointed the Group Executive Director, Business Development, he was A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited business advisor. Prior to his appointment, he worked in top management and executive positions in many companies.

Mal lam Yahaya started his career in OAN Overseas Agency Nig Ltd as a supervisor. He rose to the position of Branch Manager in Port Harcourt just three months after his employment, a position he held until the merger between OAN and Schenker International where he assumed the responsibility of Shipping Manager in charge of Nigerian operations.



Additionally, he was the Manager of Greenview Shipping Lines, a subsidiary of Dangote Group where he helped re-organize the company for greater efficiency. While at Dangote he was head hunted to join Eastern Bulkcem Group of Companies as the Manager, Milford Marine Nigeria Ltd., a position he held for seven years before joining MRS Group as an Assistant Director, Shipping. Given his excellent performance, he got promoted to become the Manager, of Government Relations before he was further promoted to be the Group Executive Director, External Affairs of the Group in the same year and he held the position for a year and half before he was seconded to Chevron Nigeria Limited as the Executive Director Marketing and Sales in the company before being promoted as the Managing Director of the company when it changed from CHEVRON to MRS OIL NIG PLC

As the Managing Director of the company, he initiated and concluded many management changes that repositioned the company for greater efficiency.

He ensured the growth of the company’s OAT by 80% in just one year and under a very difficult transition period. e results are yet to be surpassed.

He was further promoted to become the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, of West Africa, and later the Group Executive Director, Retail of MRS Holdings LTD, a position he held for over four years. Mallam Yahaya attended various courses namely: Oil Trading at Citac London in 2008, a Certification course in Leadership at London Business School in the same year and a course in Finance Management by Euromoney in Dubai in 2014.

Mallam Yahaya spent ten years in top management positions at MRS Holdings LTD.

Mallam Yahaya won many accolades as a student, and as a manager in some of the companies where he worked, including NU PENG, Southwest Zone, and Arewa Youths in Kaduna.

Engr. Hamza Ismail

Engr. Hamza Ismail is a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from the famous Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University of Technology Bauchi 2010 and holds a master’s degree in oil and gas management from Coventry University, United Kingdom specializing in petroleum economics in the year 2015. He is also a Certified member of COREN and the Nigerian Institution of petroleum Engineers. He started his working career in 2010 as a Station Manager in AYM Shafa Ltd, before proceeding to one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps 2011 to 2012. He returned as Transport Manager in AYM Shafa Ltd after his National youth service, a position held for one year.

In 2013 He was later recalled back to his famous University to serve as a Graduate Assistant and later promoted to the level of Assistant Lecturer all in the Department of Petroleum Engineering.

In 2017 he rejoined A.Y.M Shafa Holdings Limited as an Assistant General Manager Transport Department later appointed as the Executive Director of the Terminal. In 2021, he was saddled with the responsibility to oversee both the Terminal and the Logistics department as the Executive Director Terminal and Logistics. He has attended courses both in Nigeria and abroad, amongst which are Global leaders program Coventry United Kingdom, Leadership in Health and Safety Management Lagos Business School, CITAC Oil Trading and Operations Accra Ghana, International business etiquette Delhi, India, cultural and management strategy Jalandhar, India, INCLUSION as part of volunteering activities Punjab India, Peace and Conflict resolution skills Istanbul, Turkey.

He has vast knowledge and experience in Truck Diagnosis and parts replacements.

Engr. Lukman Y. Maishanu

Engr. Lukman Yakubu Maishanu is an Executive Director at A.Y.M Shafa Holdings Limited. He oversees the trading and supply operations. As the youngest member of the company’s management team, Engr. Maishanu is saddled with the responsibility for innovation management in the organization.

He obtained Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University Turkish Republic of North Cyprus TRNC and Master’s degree in International Business Management from Coventry University.

Hajiya Hafsat Ambursa

Hafsat M. Ambursa has over 10years experience in the downstream sector of the Oil & Gas Industry with major specialization in Logistics & Supply Chain Management and Marketing.

She joined A.Y.M. Shafa Holdings Limited in 2018 as the Manager Logistics & Operations and within a short period of time rose to become the Head of Commercial services vested with the responsibility of managing/supervising both the retail and bulk sales segments of the company. She succeeded in restructuring not just her department but also contributed to the Executive Management’s drive in restructuring the entire business by putting in place the requisite processes and procedures which guide the business.

Her exceptional performance in turning around the sales volumes of the company and continuous dedication to uplifting the company’s position and repute both within and outside the industry is what led to her recent promotion to the position of General Manager Commercial. She has won various awards and commendations from the company’s leadership.

Hafsat is a graduate of the University of Abuja, with a Bsc. in Economics and Msc in Oil & Gas Operations Management from the University of Central Lancashire, Preston United Kingdom with a Distinction.

Engr. Shafiu Yakubu Maishanu

 

Shafiu Yakubu Maishanu is the youngest Executive Director of A.Y.M Shafa Holdings Limited. He is an intellectual with a keen interest and expertise in construction. Thus his years of qualitative experience in the field of Civil & Structural Engineering.

Shafiu holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Eastern Mediterranean University Cyprus and an Msc. in Structural Engineering. Aside his regular board duties, he is tasked with overseeing the Property Department at A.Y.M Shafa Holdings Limited.
